Callers can use the service to connect directly to UK doctors for the first time. The service is designed for non urgent medical advice. Callers dial a non geographic number. The call then gets routed through to one of our helpful doctors working on the service around the country. Callers pay for the consultation through their phone bill, alternatively they can pay by credit card if that is more convenient. They are then free to talk to the Doctor for any amount of time up to the maximum 20 minutes that the telephone governing body, PhonePay Plus (formerly ICSTIS) , allows. People can use this time to talk anonymously about issues that might concern themselves or a relative. Calls are recorded to comply with best practice but the callers are not obliged to give their name. For the first time, callers can talk to Doctors from the comfort of their own home at a time that suits them. No waiting rooms, no receptionists, just a direct line to a friendly Doctor. |
