The sinking of the Greek cruise ship the MV Sea Diamond was due to human error, authorites have stated.
Greek merchant marine minister Manolis Kefaloyannis told reporters that there was "most definitely" there was human error involved in the sinking.
The Sea Diamond sank in the early hours of the morning on April 6th after it scraped its side on a reef outside the volcanic island of Santorini in the Aegean Sea.
In total 1156 passengers and 391 members of crew were on board the vessel including a party of over 30 students and teachers from Henley College in Oxfordshire.
Greek authorites are still searching for the bodies of two French tourists, father and daughter Jean-Christophe and Maud Allain, who have not been accounted for.
The captain of the Sea Diamond now faces legal proceedings with charges claiming he caused a shipwreck through negligence and failed to apply international regulations on avoiding collisions.
