Returning to a stressful job after a heart attack can rapidly lead to a recurrence of problems, according to a Canadian study.
Researchers at Laval University in Quebec have attempted to go beyond existing knowledge of the links between stress at work and the occurrence of heart attacks, by isolating the post-heart attack factor of stressful work from others.
The Canadian patients used in the study were reported to show a link between a second heart attack and stressful work the job factor was claimed to be isolated from the effects like lifestyle and socio-economic group.
Heart attack recovery can often focus on getting patients to kick smoking habits or high-cholesterol diets, but the new study hopes to place a new premium on job stress and its effect on creating recurrences of heart problems.
Although further studies are intended by the group, the report authors said: "Information about the results of this study should be disseminated in cardiac practice and in occupational health services."
The researchers urged people to consider the effects of job strain, with medical advice a necessity for those concerned that their workplace worries may be affecting their recovering hearts.
