Travellers to Guinea have been given a revised warning from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), it has been announced.
The FCO's latest announcement comes after a previous warning advising travellers to only travel if strictly necessary.
This most recent safety warning has been issued following reports that security in the country has recently become more stable.
However, travellers to the country are still being advised against all but essential travel to areas bordering the country, including Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Cote d'Ivoire.
The warning was issued by the FCO due to high military presence in these areas, as well as "a fragile and unstable security situation" in Cote d'Ivoire potentially putting travellers' safety at risk.
Despite the warning being stepped down, the FCO is still urging visitors to be vigilant: "Most visits to Guinea are trouble-free. However, petty crime is common in Guinea.
"You should take sensible precautions and maintain a high level of vigilance in public."
Earlier in the year, a string of general strikes and demonstrations in Guinea led to the deaths of over 100 people.
