Filling the frown lines at lunchtime

Date: 31/10/2007 10:49:30

A growing number of people are choosing to undergo cosmetic procedures during their lunch break to achieve the body beautiful, it has emerged.

According to Looking Good BuyAssociation, 'lunchtime procedures' such as Botox are becoming more and more popular, especially with women, as they attempt to reverse the effects of ageing on their skin.

Botox injections are used to smooth out the appearance of frown lines, forehead furrows, crow's feet, lip lines as well as down-turned mouths and dimple chins.

Felicity Quigley, editorial director at Looking Good BuyAssociation, explained that she had definitely witnessed a move towards these non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

"Things like Botox and dermal fillers; things that we actually deem as being 'lunchtime procedures' because you can literally have them done in your lunch hour if you want to. That sort of thing is certainly becoming more and more prevalent," she said.

However she warned that people thinking of having such procedures carried out should still check the credentials of their practitioner: "It's really, really important for people…to go with somebody who’s accredited and who's qualified to do that.

"Just because your procedure's only going to take an hour doesn't mean that you shouldn't be making sure that they’re qualified to do what they're supposed to do," she added.

Recent figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) show that 28,921 surgical procedures were carried out by its members in 2006, with anti-ageing procedures such as facelifts, eyelid surgery and brow lifts continuing to rise by 44 per cent, 48 per cent and 50 per cent respectively.
